TITOLAR STREWN FIELD
About Titolar Strewnfield meteorites.
The meteorites
found in this strewnfield have 3 caracteristics: fresh, crust
and regmaglypts.
They are not classified. SM 30 Magnetic Susceptibility test showed that they
are OC's, most probabaly H5.

Discovery: In winter 2003, Caillou Noir recovered 94 meteorites weighing more than 20 grams and 217 g of smaller ones, for a total mass of 14,123 g in the Titolar strewn field of the Sahara. The bigger recovered stone weights 1894 g.
These meteorites present a very well preserved fusion crust, almost complete and they are in a very interesting state of conservation. Most individuals have deeply marketed thumbprints, Few individuals found broken display slikenlside! Slikeslides are particular surfaces created by shock. They are rather rare in meteorites.
The arid conditions in this strewn field, ( which location will not be disclosed and must be considered as a proprietary information of Caillou Noir's intensive prospection work in the Sahara ) explain the visual aspect and quality of these meteorites.
Analyses: All specimen were tested according the new magnetic susceptibility method developped by Pierre Rochette, last 2003 spring in Caillou Noir's workshop. Although this method is only at its beginning, it gives very accurate results and allows to quickly classify meteorites. The results shows that it is very likely that all these meteorites are H5, except the 4 bigger ones. 2 specimen randomly chosen, ( by my 3 years old daughter! ) were cut and send to Bertrand Devouard, University Blaise Pascal of Clermont-Ferrand, France. They were classified H5/6 confirming the magnetic susceptibiliyty method.
Publication: To date, no classification has been submitted to the Nomenclature Committee of the Meteoritical Society for the publication of the meteorites discovered in Titolar strewn field. Titolar is the name given by the native of the area where these meteorites were discovered. It is also the name used by Caillou Noir to name these meteorites. It should be looked as the most probable official name of these meteorites, if the Nom Com accepts it when submission of analyses will be presented.
You can buy in confidence our selected meteorites.
