![]() Left: Half individual 456 g t 82 mm * 59 * 56 mm Right, 3 slices and 2 cuts. |
This is
a very rare meteorite: no crust on its surface althought it is a WO/1 meaning
it is not weathered. Classifed LL6 (or LL5 according an american expert ), with
moderate shock stage ( S2) , Ain Beida is a remarquable meteorite only 745 g
of it are available. We have cut 4 full slices, one have been given for analyse.
When Michele Bourot denise saw it she asked to keep it intact for display: I
will be sad to cut it she said: I decided to slice the end cut into 3 parts
and send one to her.
Ain Beida is the name given by natives to the place where this meteorite
was discovered.
Type specimen;
MNHN Paris: full slice ( 25.6 g) and an end cut (3 g) was send to MNHNP for
analyses on march 2003.
